What we're about:- The Gladwyne Civic Association was established in 1948 by a group of interested residents. The objectives of the Association are to maintain superior civic conditions in Gladwyne and to consider and take appropriate action concerning all questions relating to the welfare of the community. All residents and persons having a place of business in Gladwyne are eligible for membership. This includes those who live in designated areas of Villanova and Bryn Mawr; also Lower Merion Township Wards 1 and 2. Annual membership dues are Friend $10.00, Patron $25 and Sponsor $50 and can be sent to the above address. Monthly Civic Association Meetings take place on the 4th Tuesday of every month with the exception of the summer months and December. The Annual Meeting takes place on the 4th Tuesday in October. Meetings are held at the Gladwyne Fire House Community Room or a nearby location. All meetings start promptly at 7:30 p.m. and are open to the public. The Association publishes a newsletter twice a year updating the community on events and accomplishments. Please feel free to send newsworthy articles to the above address and we will try to include them in our publication if at all possible. The Association also sponsors the following annual community events: Gladwyne Clean-Up Day This event is supported by our local businesses and organizations. Volunteers meet at the Gladwyne Super Fresh for assignments and supplies. Hoagies and soft drinks are provided. Volunteers are always needed. Gladwyne Memorial Day Parade & Block Party This commemorative day is co-sponsored by the Library League and held in the heart of the village, rain or shine. The parade assembles at 11:30 a.m. behind the Gladwyne Park. Children are invited to decorate their bikes, wagons, strollers and walk or ride in the parade. The parade begins at noon followed by a ceremony honoring our veterans. Food, fun and entertainment fill the block party and many wear red, white and blue for this very special day. Volunteers are needed. |
